Denver Botanic Gardens’ observance of Día de los Muertos will be celebrated this year with Noches Iluminadas featuring Alebrijes Ilumniandos - colorful illuminated sculptures made by Mexican artists Rubén Mica and Óscar Becerra. Join us during this festive week, meet the artists, interact and take photos – and learn more about these fantastical dream characters inspired by the zoology of Mexico.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Monday – Friday, Nov. 1-5, 4-7 p.m.

The Alebrije is one of the many manifestations of popular Mexican art. Alebrijes are fantastical figures that are a hybrid of various animals, whether real or imaginary, and are characterized by their vibrant colors and elaborate details.

Alebrijes Iluminados are inspired by the traditional cardboard alebrije – and are a modern way of presenting them, constructed from recycled materials, decorated in brilliant colors and illuminated from within by LED lights.
