SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR THE 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR IN PARENT TOT (18MO-2.5) AND EARLY LEARNER (2.5-3.5 YEARS) Play-based, child led program grounded in developmentally appropriate research-based practices. We are a parent co-operative school founded in 1973. Offering part time 2-3-4-day scheduling to ages 18 months to 5 years. Our teachers are incredibly experienced — many hold Master’s degrees in early childhood education and have 20+ years working with young children. Families who thrive here tend to be those looking for community and connection in their child’s early years. We serve families in Wash Park, Platt Park, DU, Englewood, and South Denver AND MORE.

We are a parent cooperative school where children, parents, and teachers come together to play, explore, and learn in a joyful, stimulating, and safe environment. We aim to nurture caring, confident, and competent lifelong learners.

At WPELC we believe children learn best through play with an emphasis on social-emotional development. Students explore and enrich their world physically, emotionally, and intellectually—toward optimum growth. Our teachers provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum full of experiential and hands-on learning opportunities.

Our integrated curriculum incorporates emergent literacy, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, gross motor movement, art, and music. We balance free play and choice time with facilitated group and individual activities.

It is essential that each child develops a caring attitude toward other children and learns the importance of working cooperatively. WPELC supports these beliefs by respecting and celebrating all children, their families, and their diverse backgrounds and cultures. We strongly emphasize respectful, collaborative, and mutually acceptable resolutions to problems or conflicts.
