Family Program: Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration

Enjoy hands-on art-making and a movement-based activity for children and their families as the Clyfford Still Museum celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! Stop by the Museum’s outdoor forecourt from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for accessible yoga brought to you by Guided By Humanity. Alongside yoga, there will be a mindful mala-making activity from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where participants can create their own beaded mala bracelet to take home and enjoy.

Stop by the Museum’s outdoor forecourt from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for accessible yoga brought to you by Guided By Humanity, a Denver-based, non-profit wellness organization that supports individuals experiencing disabilities. Brittany Murdock, a recent GBH Peer-to-Peer All Abilities Yoga Program graduate, will lead yoga. Alongside yoga, there will be a mindful mala-making activity from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where participants can create their own beaded mala bracelet to take home and enjoy. The Museum will provide chairs.
These drop-in activities are for all ages and all abilities. American Sign Language interpreters will provide translation for yoga, and yoga en Español will be available through Guided By Humanity’s Sound-Off headphones. The event area has plenty of room for participants who use a wheelchair or powerchair.
Sip on a free refreshing smoothie provided by the Peace & Humanity Smoothie Bus, a collaboration project between Guided By Humanity & The Apprentice of Peace Youth Organization. The Peace & Humanity Smoothie Bus employs youth and folks experiencing disabilities while serving nutritious smoothies and wellness education. The ADA Celebration is also an SCFD Free Day, so visit the Museum all day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free!
