Join us for this very special Make-Together workshop in advance of Mother's Day for children ages 7+ and their grown up! Instead of our typical hand building project, we'll spend the afternoon on the pottery wheels. After a 15-20 minute introduction to the pottery wheels and mini-lesson, kids and adults will head off to get messy, play, and explore on the wheels. No experience is necessary, as this will be a facilitated session with extra support from our instructor. Each person (adult and child(ren)) will be on their own pottery wheel throughout the workshop, however children on wheels will be exploration only and their pottery pieces will not be kept. The grown up on the wheel will make a cylindrical pot with the assistance of our instructor (if new to pottery) -- next, the kids + grown ups will together give the pot a gentle "hug" with their hands. This creates a beautiful organic shape to the pot, with the memory and imprint of each person's hand hug. (Note, this isn't a handprint, it is a unique organic shape created by you and your child(ren)). The Hug Pots will be fired and glazed (by a Tinker team member) with a color your choice from our beautiful selection of glazes. These make stunning vases ready to adorn your home with a reminder of this special time together.
We're going to work super hard to get your Hug Pots all ready for pick up one week after this workshop, on Friday, May 9th, in advance of Mother's Day. We will let you know pick up hours at the workshop! Just like our other Make-Together Workshops, children must attend with a grown up, and grown ups are welcome to register with more than one child (i.e. siblings). The workshop price is per person, so you'll register each individual attending, including yourself and your child or children. Children ages 6.5+ are welcome to attend, and while we don't set an upper limit for ages, please be aware there will be parents with children ages 6.5-ish and up :)
