Celebrate the Debut of Southlands’ New Guest Amenities
Free Family-Friendly Events for the Weekend
Southlands Shopping Center is hosting the following fun, free, family-friendly events to celebrate the opening and unveiling of its new Town Square and other center amenities on the last weekend in September.
Friday, September 25 - Saturday, September 26
- Ceremonial Fountain Opening//Laser Light Show (Reservation Required):
Friday, September 25 7:00pm
- As part of the newly updated Town Square at Southlands, a new vibrant and lively pop-jet fountain will be switched on by Aurora Mayor Coffman and other dignitaries. This fountain is for the community to enjoy and use. It is predicted to be a beautiful evening and weekend for the launch. A laser light show will follow.

- Debut of Southlands Bigger-Than-Life Murals:
Saturday, September 26 12:00pm - 2:00pm (Meet the artist)
- See the beautiful new mural at Southlands created by popular local artist, Austin Zucchini-Fowler, who will host a meet-and-greet to share his inspiration for the new addition. Located on the south end Town Square, across from Ted’s Montana Grill, the mural is a joint commission by Visit Aurora and Southlands.
- A second mural was commissioned from Denver artist Pat Milbery. It is located in the Southlands’ new Guest Services at the Clock Tower. After recently completing his vibrant and impressive work on Larimer Square in downtown Denver,, Milbery created a beautiful piece, Southlands Reshaped and Reimagined, that celebrates Southlands and Aurora.
- Mini-Chalk Art Festival:
Friday, September 25 1:00pm - 6:00pm and September 26 10:00am - 3:00pm
- Professional chalk artists will create beautiful masterpieces on the surrounding streets of Town Square. Free chalk will be supplied for children to draw their own masterpieces in the kid’s area.
- Grab & Go Menu for Charity:
Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26
- The community is invited to purchase Grab and Go menu items from participating Southlands’ restaurants Friday and Saturday and, in return, a portion of the purchase will be donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies. - Planting of the Kid’s Cub’s Tulip Garden (Reservation Required):
Saturday, September 26 12:00pm - 3:00pm
- Enjoy some fresh air and come plant tulip bulbs in the Town Square garden. Next Spring you can visit Southlands and see the tulips grow. Reservations needed: https://www.shopsouthlands.com/eventprograms/grand-opening
- Fitness Demonstrations/Fitness Classes (Reservation Required):
Saturday, September 26 12:00pm - 3:00pm
