Over 30 years ago a young mother planted some pumpkins for the upcoming fall. Inexperience somehow produced a bumper crop and creativity led to the beloved "Pumpkin People". Back then the sign said free, but folks still tucked cash in the old overalls. So an idea became a small business, each year the crop got bigger and the kids got wheelbarrows to accommodate the year's search for the biggest.
As the years went by, October turned into a month-long event, and new "Pumpkin People" each season to welcome families on their way through our gates. Halloween still marks the end, but now Opening Weekend kicks it all off.
