Visit with our special guest, Talon, Colorado Parks & Wildlife’s mascot and stop by to get a design painted on you by our face painter! Educational Hikes South Rim Trail: Wildflower Hike at 11:30 a.m. This is a moderate 3– mile hike with a 500ft. elevation gain. Fountain Valley Trail: Geology Hike at 12 p.m. This is an easy 2.2-mike hike with two overlooks. Educational Tables on the Patio Welcome: Talk with volunteers about the history of the park. They will have a photo album with historic photos. Pick up a cupcake and a commemorative poster with one of John Fielder’s beautiful photographs. Donations will go towards environmental education at the park. Afterwards take a walk down Fountain Valley Trail to tour inside the Persse Place. Hear stories about the area’s important characters of the early 1900’s. Pelts & Skulls: Learn about the wildlife that live at the park and depends on the land for their survival. Living With Bears: Discuss how to be a good neighbor and protect the bears that live in your area and recreational lands. Leave No Trace: Meet with volunteers and Leave No Trace representatives to discover ways you can recreate responsibly and leave less of an impact on the environment. Kids Activity: You can take it for Granite! Discover how different minerals form rocks. Migratory Bird Day: Discover how birds play a crucial role in keeping our natural world and economies healthy and what you can do to help!
